Posts: 2139 (07/19/09 15:13) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	To Eat or not to Eat....yep....tis always the question....LOL I once made a mistake in my German conversation class at Uni....I was saying that my parents are divorced....but kept impronouncing the word for divorce...instead....unbeknownst to me....and most of the other students in class...[but for one who told me afterwards],,,,I used the word for a particular part of the female anatomy...ahem......ARGHHHHH....[can't bring up the emoticons right now.....]....anyway..it was very embarressing....

Posts: 1849 (07/21/09 02:10) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Happy to say that I'll be seeing my favorite Beatle, the Cute One as I used to call him back in the day, Sir Paul McCartney, tomorrow evening (in the pouring rain no doubt) at the Citi Field Stadium in New York, right near where the Beatles did their famous scream-a-thon US concert at Shea Stadium in '65. Can't wait!!!! How the man has the stamina to keep up with it all, I don't know, but he looks great! The last time (and only time) I saw Paul McCartney in concert was in 2005...he invited six year old triplets in the audience dressed in Sgt. Pepper outfits to accompany him on stage for the final number. They stole the show...almost! What a nice guy to do something like that for kids who so obviously adored him. What a nice memory the whole family will have for years to come. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HV6OxUUcUNs When I heard him sing, "Yesterday" in concert in 2005 I remember that I actually cried, it was that beautiful. Long live Sir Paul! :-)

Actually my mom-in-law was the big Beatles fan. Mr LD keeps telling her that he'll sell her original Beatles albums on eBay. NAH. All he wants from her is his dad's 2 Purple Hearts (which she put in a "safe place" somewhere in the house and are now misplaced). Purple Hearts = United States military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those who have been wounded or killed while serving on or after April 5, 1917 with the U.S. military.

That is so true. People with different eating habits often find it harder to socialize. For instance, I have a friend who is a veggie: not a problem at all in itself, except when we eat out, it's always a nightmare to find a place when she can have something nice. True - that's what I like about them. I think the goal of the ad campaign was to show that old films can be summer blockbusters too, with modern looking posters! I saw Paul McCartney in the late 1980s...that too was a stadium show but it was absolutely amazing...a big group of us went...my brother as well...the only concert I think we ever attended together....I still can see him being so delighted and excited...something he tries to suppress unfortunately most of the time... I do have wonderful news to share right now....I applied for a job at the VA hospital here...last May...a week ago a friend of mine that works there told me that they were not preparing to review the applications...and TODAY they called me for an interview!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After figuring out a date and time that they had open and that I could also do....[I have to always be available for problems at my job...so that was tricky...] ANYWAY...I interview August 7th....WHICH...is the day I had my hip surgery last year. I believe that this coincidence is a good omen! I am very burned out at my job. There have been no pay increases in 5 years while at the same time we have operated with less than a full staff....if I am fortunate enough to be offered this job at the VA...the pay increase is about 25%...nothing to sneeze at...and the federal benefits are the best....for social workers in particular. I know I go on about the money...but reality is there...to include that I can be a therapist in various settings...but I have to also consider my life and well being. Anyway...I do know that I may not get the job...however, getting the interview does mean to me that the informatoin and the essays I had to answer were what they were looking for. I knew that what I mailed to them was as strong an application that I could give...I copied and included information about when I worked for the Air Force, included a wonderful letter of recommendation for my supervisor at that job...all my licensure and other credentials...you name, they asked for it...and I was able to give them more...[wish I knew the strengths of the other candidates...] Now I hope that I interview well. I typically do but have had one horrible interview experience where it was just well...horrible...and I could not dig out of it...but that was 20 years ago. and if I don't get teh job offer I will continue to keep an eye out for positions at the VA [it is the only employer where I live that can and does offer better pay and benefits for me to apply]. If I don't get the job I will be depressed but I will get over it. Fa La La for today however!!!!!!!!!!!!...I still can use my emoticons...hmmmmmm...but I think I have conveyed my excitement

I haven't seen it in ages. Changing the subject, Inheritance, the documentary about Amon Goeth's daughter going to Plaszow to meet Helen Jonas the Plaszow survivor, has been nominated for an Emmy.
