I did see This Is It - I wouldn't consider it Oscar material though - in the best film category, that is. It's a documentary in my opinion, not a film.
And as much as I enjoyed the film, I wouldn't compare a compilation of rehearsal footing to the directing of a film... my two cents anyway
I did write an article about it - although it is in French... I enjoyed it - it was like a string of famous songs, with short interviews in between. I did enjoy the Smooth Criminal number a lot. I am not a MJ fan so I wasn't really moved, but my boyfriend said he had his throat swelling up a couple of times - he is a fan I had a good time, didn't see the time pass.

Clifton, what will you be doing on the big anniversary (the 9th I think)? Is there a big city party going on?

Another kitty comment...:-)
How does a 27 lbs. kitty....find a way to open a cabinet door and locate himself way in the back, behind gallon size bottles of water and roasting pan? and not knock a thing over?? Apparently easily when you name is Cosmo and the big, loud [and sure to eat a kitty] lawnmower guy is outside and the windows are open LOL. Shammy, who ever said you have a trademark kitty...is absolutely right!! what is kitty's name?? Audrey...I understand your comments about the film, THIS IS IT..it is a documentary..however, with the best film catagory going up to TEN..geezzz...this film is a lot better than most of the 'crapola' that I have seen over the past six months...;-) Shammy, you are spot on about your thoughts re: MJ fans and their loss...and how much they know about him vs the rest of the population...similar of course to our little international sandclub here. I have thought about that as well. you asked about the theatre...I saw TII on Oct. 31st...the day of the FLORIDA/Georgia football game [UF is ranked number one apparently]. Anyway the theatre was close to 1/2 full..but I can tel you that there were not a lot of people going to the movies on saturday because of this game...the audience was made up of mostly adults...varying ages from a very elderly lady...and I do mean elderly...to some teenagers... one more comment...MJ also had a very great singing voice...check out his version of SMILE on youtube sometime as an example. yep, I am on vacation this week and the temps here in florida are COOL...last few weeks they have been hovering around 26C and humid....

Just this morning I found my pretty oven mitt (a present from my dear departed aunt and godmother) in a far-off corner of the house with the thumb-part torn to
shreds! It was practically a brand new oven mitt...I had only used it a few times and it coordinated so well with my kitchen! Now that I think of it, the last
time I used it was on the morning of the day we left our kitten home by herself all day...and she probably was pretty ticked off at us for leaving her.
Anything I value I'd better put in a good hiding place. The guy next to me at work told me that when his mother left her cat home all day by herself that
his mom came home to find that the cat had peed in her favorite bedroom slippers. These cats definitely carry grudges!

Shammy,
you'll soon come to value the kitty more than anything else... believe me. Sorry if this has been asked before, what's her name? We used to leave my cat alone even for days... She wasn't particularly troubled, she always prefered to be left alone anyway, not the cuddly type. She would cuss a bit upon our return, rub around our feet, but after a minute or two she would turn her back on us and it was business as usual. We are such a grumpy, pathetic household without her, *sigh*. On a different tone, can someone please tell me a few things about the President's Committee on Arts and the Humanities? http://www.thewrap.com/ind-column/norton-whitaker-among-obamas-picks-arts-committee-9541 Quite a diverse bunch there... Clifton, what will you be doing on the big anniversary (the 9th I think)? Is there a big city party going on?I haven't decided yet. But Nov 9th is also the anniversary of the Kristallnacht (1938). Many activities are traditionally around remembering the horrible happenings in 1938. I wish they had waited with the wall one more night. That would make celebrating today a lot easier.

Yes, that's difficult. But oppression is oppression and remembering one whilst celebrating the other is not inconsistent, it seems to me.

The Evening Standard has renamed its Best Actress award after Natasha Richardson. It's just published its long list (which later becomes a shortlist, which
becomes winners - they don't do formal nominations). The list is here if anyone's interested.

You remember the character "Q" from the James Bond films? Well, we call the kitten "Z".

I thought it was a more appropriate film connection, that's why I suggested the name change. I am the last person who'd say something bad about the
kitty.

I can't see your post, Eva but I'm sure you referred to the Costa-Gavras film?

Noooooooo! And I was so sure about it! As "Z"'s about Greece in the late 60s! (And I've heard that Z somehow means "he lives"...)

Z is the first letter of Ζωή which means "life". The film is based on a book about the true story of a political assassination (Lamprakis). Wanna bet
that Jane Victor will pop up soon?
