The Hugh Grant choice, coz I'm a sucker for romantic comedies. Love Actually, 4 weddings & a funeral, Notting Hill... just love them when I'm
feeling sad & lonely (with a bucket og freshly microwaved salted pop corn, a bottle of cranberry juice - and vodka, if I'm really sad

Now, that's a hard one, Jackie. But I'll take number 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 - especially if he can be in a screwball comedy (only they
don't make them anymore, and that's really a shame - we need sublime nonsense).

Thanks for the poll, Jackie. If it can only be one I decide for steamy no 11. The bird in the hand...

Nik, yes! A remake of Bringing Up Baby in which RF plays the Cary Grant part. I'll bet he could lose that intercostal clavicle almost as well as
CG--no one could do it as well, though. He's the master.

I am afraid romantic comedies should be left to Hugh Grant. I'd like to see him as a romantic lead once more... maybe a literary adaptation? Have to think
harder.

I cannot see RF in a Hugh Grant role in a romantic comedy at all. And it would not make use of RF's best talents...it's the subtle stuff that he's
best at, the brooding, the meaningful glances, anything to do with the eyes...you don't need that kind of thing in romantic comedies. I agree with
Eva...leave that stuff to Hugh Grant who does it beautifully.
I'd like to see RF in a romantic leading role, not necessarily losing the girl in the end. |

For me it has to be the artist.

Oh now, you all have no sense of fun! Not a rom-com, but a screwball comedy where RF can fall over his feet. (He has the feet for it...)
No? Well, I suppose it has to be said that RF's talents tend toward the serious. |

I went for the (lowest) common denominator, too, Clifton
You're right, Blue, CG is the master when it comes to screwball. That hectic, physical over-the-top style with rolling eyes and raised voice is
inimitable. I actually don't think it's good acting, but it makes me laugh so hard. "Arsenic and Old Lace" |

What ever happened to the Internet rumour in 2007/2008 that had Ralph Fiennes co-starring with Juliet Rylance in the film re-make of Du Maurier's Rebecca?
Was it just a rumour?
Edited to ask: why is she still listed as Juliet van Kampen on imdb? Her sister Nataasha uses the name van Kampen and not Rylance. Odd.

Rebecca was a joke, Enrica. It sprang from a Chichester festival programme for I Am Shakespeare, a production which starred both Mark and Juliet, in which
there was a competition which asked if you could spot the untrue fact in the actors' biographies. Mark's was that he played the baby at the end of
Spartacus; Juliet's was that she would be in Rebecca with Ralph. Amazing how it went round.
Juliet is Mark's stepdaughter. She is the daughter of Clare van Kampen, Mark's wife of many years. |

He would actually make a wonderful Max De Winter... *dreamy look*
I liked the novel very much and the film is my favourite of Hitchcock's. OT: has anyone read "The Other Rebecca" by Mauren Freely? E.xxx

I read it again about once a year
But still, the powerful absence of Rebecca is what makes the novel a great read, even when you know how it's going to end. I loved the Hitchcock film too. Laurence Olivier... *dreamy eyes*

Oh, I see, I thought you'd forgotten that! I don't know - certainly she uses Rylance now as her professional name, but perhaps privately she's van
Kampen.
