Vulpes Libris Interview w/RA is posted now. *VL: Whither Richard Armitage? Can you tell us what you have lined up next?* *RA: A new 6-part TV series, a film, and a stage play based on a novel, which became a 60's film classic. (Answers on a postcard please!) Hopefully, Spooks 9.* Yeah for the 6-part TV series and film!! I'm torn about the play b/c I have a feeling I won't be able to go see it. And I don't forsee it coming to NYC. He doesn't have the draw power like Ralph.

Presumably Libris is book, but what does Vulpes mean? Any Latin speakers out there? So Lord of the Rings is one of his favourite books. Yay! My kinda guy. I've read it several times since I was about 11. RA would have made a wonderful Aragorn, if Viggo Mortensen hadn't got there first. Unimagineable now to think of anyone else in that role. I agree with him about spoilers, he hates them with a vengeance and says he was part of the 'Don't show the Sheriff's finger twitching' campaign... and they lost. I'm with him there, it was a big mistake. And it was fascinating to hear what he had to say about Guy of Gisborne - that he was only interesting when he wasn't getting what he wanted. Sounds like there's lots of RA stuff to look forward to in the future. I'd really like to see him get his Richard III project off the ground. Also, I cannot get him and Ted Hughes out of my mind. I think that would be such a perfect part for him to play. If only someone would come up with a script... I'm racking my brain to think what stage play he might do, based on a novel which became a 60s film classic; any ideas? One that occured to me was To Kill a Mockingbird? I did wonder like some C19 or AA members if certain books he mentioned will have increased book sales, i.e. Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl and The Sunne in Splendour by Sharon Penman. Those 2 I've never heard of before I read the interview. You know N&S by Elizabeth Gaskell have been read already by RA fans. Yes, I can see him as Aragorn. Perhaps Bard in The Hobbit movie will be his chance to shine since he loves LOTR books. People have speculated that the stage play based on a novel could be To Kill a Mockingbird. Let the speculation begin... *If I could turn back the clock, I would certainly be behind the camera.* I prefer him (and Ralph) to be in front of the camera instead. Directing and producing - do it when you're older and can't get good parts! RH S3 Spoiler below I did get a chance to watch the finale episodes of RH, Doulla. I knew about the demise of RH but I was still teary-eyed when I saw they brought back Marian for that final scene. And poor Alan and GoG. Alan was unexpected. GoG - I had a "GRRR" moment at the AA & C19 forums when they spoiled it for me. I can see that Rich had a difficult time playing him (so many contradictions and internal conflicts to keep straight). Actually, I thought the story got a bit boring in the final 2 episodes when GoG & RH were finally on the same side. Archer was a pleasant addition. He reminded me of Errol Flynn. I'd have the nerve to ask anything, you know that! The interview was indeed quite interesting, I suppose more so for a RA fan. I did start reading the comments too, but stop somewhere along 45 of them... It is funny how sometimes fans write on the internet addressing their objects of desire, as if they could read them... I must agree with this comment, even tho I have no idea what RA said in his messages to AA: (by JILLY) Even though I thought this was great, it did seem a little staged to me, as if the questions were on paper and answered in the same way, not a face to face interview, or so heavily edited it took alot of the human side away from it. Maybe it's just me, but after reading the messages Richard used to put on the websites i.e The Armitage Army, etc. it just doesn't feel the same. Maybe it's because the last of those messages were 2 years ago (I so wish he would start writing them again) that maybe he's not funny anymore and started to be serious now instead of the lighthearted way he used to write. You could almost hear Richard speaking when you read those messages, but I just didn't get that feeling at all from this interview. Almost as if someone else was answering for him. But girls, don't call him Rich! I don't like the sound of it... and that Liza (was her name Liza, can't check now) sounds a bit pretentious to me... I still have her address too - I miss her sense of humour. So you know the founder of VL, Eva? Well tell her thank you v much for the interview. I really did enjoy it, and maybe Richard did write down his answers, but I don't think that matters; they were still a good insight into his reading habits which is what it was about. The messages he used to send to the AA were v funny, charming and spontaneous (wasn't there one about him chaffing in the black leather in the heat in Hungary, Evelyn?). But those were written like he was writing to friends, it wasn't an interview situation. Who can share more about "'Don't show the Sheriff's finger twitching' campaign"? In episode 5 (I think) of Robin Hood 3, Guy kills the sheriff; it was quite a shocker as the two characters were always linked throughout the series, they were like a double act, a real love/hate relationship. Right at the end of that episode you saw the sheriff's body taken away in a cart but they showed his finger twitching so you knew he hadn't really died. The actors campaigned not to show that bit, to make the audience believe he was really dead, but the producers went ahead and did it, which spoilt the surprise when the sheriff came back for the finale. I'm aware I'm giving away spoilers but I don't think there's anyone else other than Evelyn and myself who watches Robin Hood so hopefully it's ok. Evelyn, I wept buckets in the finale. Not so much because of Guy because he seemed lost in this last series; without Marian and the sheriff his character was left with nothing. Surprisingly it was when Robin died, mainly because of Much; Sam Troughton played that finale so beautifully, it was heartbreaking. And when Robin says to Little John "Today is a good day to die", well that just about finished me off! I'm sure I went into a bit of a mourning period for Sir Guy, which seems daft for a tv show, but I really adored that character. I haven't been able to watch any of series 1 or 2 since he died, and I've not been on the AA for ages. I was interested you said that To Kill a Mocking Bird was one of the things they'd been discussing on the AA forum; I didn't know that. I came to it by googling classic 60s films and, by a process of elimination, came to the same thought that it would make a good play. But of course, it's all just guesswork on our part. If you remember, she always had a bit of a crush on him. As I said to Doulla on ezmail, if it were TKAMB they'd have to have 6 or more likely 9 brilliant child actors (3 sets of 3), which is not impossible but a big ask.

Leena, the founder of VL is not involved with it any more, only does some guest reviews now. But she keeps contact to the best of my knowledge. Presumably from North & South? So that reviewer, Jilly, was spot on when she said it felt like the interview was conducted in writing. Shame - I'm sure Moira would have preferred face to face. Eva, I'm sure you'd find Robin Hood completely silly. I used to hate it; if I caught the odd episode on tv I used to think it was absolute rubbish and the acting was like a pantomime...but I couldn't take my eyes off the man in black, even before I got a crush on RA. Once my obsession proper started I went back and watched it from the beginning and got the pace of it, the humour, the daftness of it all. At the end of the day it's a children's adventure so you go with it and just sit back and enjoy. Edited to add...we are talking about the same Moira? Mickledore? Just want to make sure. Good luck,Eva! There are 3 seasons/series to watch. Remember the show is "fluff." Keith Allen who plays the Sheriff of Nottingham had the best lines in the show. Don't expect the storylines in the show to parallel the original story of RH. Yea, once I saw the twitching finger in S3 Episode 5, I knew they were going to bring back Vasey (the old Sheriff) in the later episodes. With that ending in Robin Hood, I don't understand how one could expect series 4 to occur. They pretty much killed off everyone except for the new people - Kate, Archer and Tuck. I remember Mickledore! Not her face, but her username. I still think she did a good job with the interview considering the focus was on books per se. It wasn't the typical rehashing of the same questions - Hungarian circus, physical theatre, etc. Yes, RA used to write on the boards at C19/AA and was very funny. re: chaffing in the leather I think he mentions it in a radio interview. I remember a comment about baby powder and leather. I'll search for it once I'm able to download files to my IPOD.
