The Hurt Locker |
Lead | |
|
I came across an article in Variety featuring the upcoming AFI Film
fest. The Hurt Locker will be one of the feature films as well, Kathryn Bigelow will be receiving a special award.

"starring Ralph Fiennes" is a bit of an overstatement! Do we have any kind of information for the film's release? I haven't heard anything in
ages... Thanks for the link Tessa!

The Hurt Locker will be in limited release at the end of June prior to going to a wider release. And in advance of that, the studio has released new stills
from the film including one of RF. The best word to describe it is "hot"......for more reasons than one.
Edited to add: I am not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else on the forum but FYI, The website for The Hurt Locker is up as well.

Thank you, Tessa. It seems Kathryn Bigelow has done another good job. But now she should return to cast Ralph in the leading roles.

The picture above looks like Ralph has a scar on his arm. Most likely it is just his arm muscle. Mr. Ducks hip surgery scar looks a lot like that.
Tessa, LOL hot in more way than one "Happy thoughts, happy dreams,
happy dances in between."

The NY Times has an interesting article about Kathryn Bigelow written by Manohla
Dargis. It's a discussion of Bigelow's films. Here's what she says about Strange Days.
She's having her unruly way with gender, sometimes by inverting traditional masculine and feminine roles, as in "Strange Days," a future shock love story that also explores voyeurism and the pleasures of violent spectacle. Shot in a Los Angeles still hurting from its 1992 civil unrest, it features Angela Bassett (whose bare, sculptured arms outmuscle those of Michelle Obama) rescuing a hapless white man (Ralph Fiennes) who, despite being the narrative's center, never becomes its hero. |

I remember we had an interesting discussion of the "gender swift" in Strange Days. It's also mentioned in this article. Well, RF doesn't exactly look fragile in the
picture above.

Hurt Locket will be opening here this Friday, I saw preview and they didn't show RF on preview, I guess as its cameo role, it look very intense and
well, violent, I have very weak stomach!
Tessa. thank you for the picture, My God RF look so INTENSE!!!

Katherine, I know you do not enjoy violent movies much. Nor do I actually...depends on how much violence is involved and how gruesome it is....but if you do go
to see The Hurt Locker please let us know your impressions of the movie. Most of the reviewers have been complimentary about it.
Nice seeing you around here again. |

Glad you enjoyed the article Katherine. Please do let us know what you think of the movie if you have a chance to see it. It won't be in my part of the
country for a while yet.

Thanks Nik
Yes I agree with Eva and Jackie! Still I am worrying about if there will too much violence in the film! I really can be really wimpy when it comes to this, I covered my face half of film on Silence of Lamb and walked out in the beginning of No country for old man so now you can see How I am! ( I would never ever see Horror films!!!) VIolence in film, I can be OK if its necessary to story telling in right way and not just showing violence in extreme way, I LOVE GOD FATHER I even it has lots of them. and Lawrence of Arabia with lots of bloody scenes. Ok I will brave myself to see The Hurt Locker! Best, Katherine |
