I'm going to cheer you up a bit more. I think David Tennant is going to be on the QI Xmas special, which is being filmed tonight. According to Stephen Fry
(who ought to know) it's someone whose initials are DT, anyway, and I can't think of anyone else.

Sorry - Quite Interesting, a TV panel show (a sort of general knowledge quiz) presented by Stephen Fry. (btw I think Doulla just meant she was upset about the
film).

I've just logged onto this on DT.com:
David To Reprise Role Of Hamlet For BBC David has signed up to reprise his role of Hamlet for BBC Two. He will be joined by key cast members from the RSC production, including Patrick Stewart as Claudius. BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow said the 180-minute screen production of Hamlet was "a wonderful opportunity to bring one of the great stage successes of last year to a wider audience". Tickets for the stage performances, which opened in Stratford-Upon-Avon and later moved to London, sold out in hours. After his debut appearance, the Guardian called Tennant the "best Hamlet in years". In February his return to the stage as Hamlet was named the event of the year in the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers' Choice Awards. That's wonderful news! Last I heard they were talking about doing a dvd of the play, but this is even better! With Patrick Stewart and 3 hours long...happy happy. Thanks Jas about QI - it would be alot of fun if he did. DT likes his tv shows, he's done quite a few including Weakest Link, Friday Night Project etc. Eva, yes I was upset about the thought of a Doctor Who film. It's more than just a tv show for me, it's been part of my life since the 60s and I'd hate to see it destroyed. You cannot have David's Doctor die, regenerate into Matt Smith, and then see him re-appear on the big screen. It's just not right. D xx

Hamlet was mentioned on the Today programme (Radio 4). That's good. Though I hope he's also doing lots of new work as well as reprising these two old
roles. I'm sure he is.

I'm sure he is too, Jas, he's always been diverse in his choices.
I think if he was ever going to do the Hamlet thing it has to be now, while it's still fresh in people's minds. It's no good doing it in, say, five years time. Those who saw it will want to see it again and those who missed out will now get a chance. It'll be interesting to see what form it takes. I've got the RSCs production of Macbeth that Anthony Sher did with Harriet Walter and I think they filmed it in The Roundhouse. I loved the staging. Their performances were incredibly powerful, quite overwhelming. I would have loved to have seen the real thing, but the dvd is a good second best with the added bonus of close ups. The other added bonus, of course, is a young Richard Armitage playing Angus...with a beard... D xx

Luscious Lenny Nero wrote: That's great about Hamlet! Wonderful news. I'd probably also watch it b/c of Patrick Stewart. LOL. Doulla, I finally had a chance to watch RSC Macbeth last night. I was busily doing web design on my computer so my attention wasn't 100% on the TV. But my attention
perked up when I heard RA's voice. Ooh, the dirty face & the beard. ![]() It was definitely a different take on the Macbeth story and loved the
military gear on the actors. I think I know this play almost inside out after listening to SD's audio version and the Shakespeare ReTold version w/James McAvoy ![]() ![]() ![]() & Keeley Hawes (and of course with RA).

John is actually Scottish, born in Glasgow and his family moved to the US with his dad's work when John was about 7. His natural accent is American, but
when he speaks to his mum and dad, his Scottish accent comes out.
His background, and first love is musical theatre both in the US and UK. His breakthrough role was in Anything Goes, so maybe that's where you heard of him, Evelyn. When he landed the role of Captain Jack in Doctor Who he wasn't all that well known on TV but he's now a household name and got his own Capt Jack spinoff series, Torchwood, an adult Sci Fi drama series. People either love John or hate him; we (my daughter and I) adore him. We've seen him in concert and Xmas pantomime and laughed so much we cried. He's outrageous, camp, cheesy and doesn't pretend to be anything different. He's gay (married to a gorgeous architect called Scott!) and comes from a very strong, close family. His parents are almost as well known as he is - I remember they got a round of applause when they were spotted in the audience at the concert we went to. D xx

They've announced the new Doctor Who assistant! Karen Gillan. She seems like a good choice, I think her and Matt Smith will work well together.

They are both quite young - I hope they won't go too much in the romantic relationship direction... She's 4 years younger than me. Oh dear.
She's from Inverness, I hope she'll get to keep her accent, the Inverness accent is lovely, very soft on the ear!

I'm aware of this CD... Been wanting to get it... I'll have a wee listen when I'm home to see how it's like. Thanks for the link, Evelyn!
I keep buying CDs and DVDs from Amazon.co.uk because it works out so much cheaper for me! Yesterday I got two CDs by a band that I'm really into at the moment, Elbow, and it cost me €15, a bargain!

I just tried listening to that audio sample and it's running at fast speed - you can still recognise David's Scottish accent though! I got it for Stella's birthday - I'll see what she thinks of it, Audrey. D xx

From DT.com:
David & Russell To Attend Comic Con In support of BBC AMERICA's U.S. premiere of four Doctor Who Specials, the Doctor himself, David Tennant, will appear alongside writer/executive producer Russell T Davies at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego. They will take part in a Doctor Who panel along with executive producer Julie Gardner and director Euros Lyn, Sunday July 26. David will travel to Comic-Con, fresh from the Doctor Who set, having shot his final scenes as the tenth Time Lord. He and fellow panelists will discuss the latest incarnation of television's longest running science fiction series and take questions from the floor. There will also be exclusive sneak peeks from the upcoming specials. Fans of BBC AMERICA's highest rated show ever, Torchwood, which will have just completed the five-part special, Children of Earth, will get to chat with the stars and makers of the show first-hand. Just 48 hours after the last episode, the show makes a return visit to Comic-Con with a panel featuring star John Barrowman, writer/executive producer Russell T Davies, executive producer Julie Gardner and director Euros Lyn, Sunday July 26. Oh, I would have loved to have gone to this. The tickets have all completely sold out...not that I could have afforded it. D xx
