We have an informal way of sharing films amongst ourselves--and that's all I'd like to say about it, keeping the arrangements informal and between friends--but it would be nice if we could occasionally network to share and return or track down some of those films or buy and ship and pay each other back. Not everyone can afford to purchase films so sharing is the first choice, purchase the second. This would be worked out between individual members based upon their history and trust of each other, not in any way dependent upon Forum membership, etc.
An example: today something reminded me of a tidy little mystery that I saw on television many years ago. It starred Michael York, and Jenny Agutter and was called Riddle of the Sands. I looked in Netflix, but it isn't there. Amazon U.S. has it only as a used VHS tape STARTING (!) at $33 U.S. and going up to $165!! Utterly ridiculous to price this film that way. I then checked Amazon UK and found it was available as a DVD for a few pounds. (There are two separate recent releases are listed, in 2005 and 2007, and it looks like the 2005 release is uncut, with 4 extra minutes, and it is rated PG. It costs more than the later version that is rated "U", whatever that is.)
So, what I wonder, does someone on the European side of our Forum have or have access to getting the 2005 PG version of The Riddle of the Sands? I'd love to either borrow it to watch and return it (I have a program that lets me view codes that are set up for other parts of the world) or to buy a relatively inexpensive release of this, and pay for the purchase and for shipping. This DVD is 16.75, about $35, so $40 U.S. would probably cover the purchase and shipping (though I don't know how taxes come into purchases there). This is a little high for one film, but is in a range I will occasionally pay. It is certainly better than the U.S. offer, considering that it is on DVD.
I propose to come back to this thread with occasional requests for films I'd like to see that I can't get here, and to respond to requests from elsewhere for films released here that you can't get in your country. Over the years I've collected quite a few films that I'd be happy to share.
Any takers?
