Yes, Melina was a wonderful actress with a great heart for Greece. Her bahaviour was theatrical as she was an actress, she knew how to make people laught and cry. I also thought about Jules, we lost Melina in 1994 but Jules was alive only a few months ago, he died last summer if i remember correct?

I was really sad, upset even that Jules is not alive to see this. He would have loved to see Melina's dream realised.

It is not only the early Christian settlement that was found when they were excavating for the museum's foundation, it is after all so close to the Acropolis Hill (it's hard to excavate anywhere in the centre of Athens without founding something that is of importance, anyway). What is interesting about this, is that the archaeological excavation is not finished in the site and the glass floor will allow visitors to see what is going on and how archaeologists work. Also the Caryatids...

Saturday of course, as you said it isnt easy driving there after a working day. It was a package including Phedra, Mozart at the Megaro, a dance performance from a Dutch cast and the entrance at the Benaki Museum. It was 80 euros for all of them and you could have priority booking so i thought that it was a good deal. I wont stay for the weekend though as the previous weekend i have to go in Agios Contsantinos to visit a friend and i dont want to be out of Athens for two weekends in a row.

I hadn't even heard of the four events package, probably can't make it to 4 plays either, so I just had a reminder on my Outlook yesterday morning.
I booked for Saturday (always do, driving there after a day's work can become hectic). I am trying to convince the rest of the group to stay in Nafplio for the weekend. Anyway...
There was a mix up with my email address, so I don't have the confirmation of the seats sent to me, just the booking code. I chose lower middle...

Was so full?? In which row have you found tickets? For Saturday or Friday? I booked mine days ago with the offer they had ( i took the four events package) and i found very good seats.

P.S. it will be the first time i will see DC at the theatre. I dislike him in all the films i have seen him so far , so i am...

I couldn't get 40-euro tickets for Phaedra today! Had to settle for 30-euro ones... the seating plan was all red, just hours after tickets went on sale!
If your friend cannot provide tickets for you Jas, make sure you try the site first thing in the morning on July 31st!

Thanks Alki - I think I've got it. I hope to get tickets from someone here in fact, but if not, then I'll be hitting the website in a month or so. Phedre was not very well received here unfortunately - I haven't seen it yet but I'm not a great fan of Mirren on stage, or of Cooper. But I loved A Winter's Tale, or at least the bits set in Sicilia - less keen on what they did with Bohemia - but I hope it will work well in the outdoor setting.

If you are interested for Phedra the pre- selling starts tomorrow. If you are interested for Simon then the pre selling starts some day in late July. I will try to find the site of the Athens festival, you can book there, their site is also in English.

We Greeks -all over the world- we are very disappointed by the Managmenet of the British Museum.
